FUNERAL OF FATHER JAIME ROLDAN POTS
Dear brothers and sisters Brothers
Salesian Salesian Family members Roldan Family
Potes
With sadness at the departure of a very worthy Salesian priest for Salesian San Luis Beltrán de Medellín and the Salesians in Colombia, but with faith in the Resurrection of Christ and his promise eternal life for his disciples, we are gathered here this afternoon by the bond of brotherly love, to pray for our brother Jaime Potes Roldán to pray with him, and thank the Lord, having given to the Salesian Family, the Congregation , to the Church. The word of God focuses on the episode of the Lord who was transfigured before of the three privileged apostles and it has a very symbolic moment according to us together, a travel itinerary that takes us to the test in the light shining through the face of the Son of God. The essence of the message refers to a profound reality: in the midst of the event is the mystery of Christ with its two phases, one bright and one dark. Cruz and glory, negation and exaltation, weakness and power, death and life.

Any pedagogy of Jesus in confrontations with the disciples. Difficult to digest the wisdom of God expressed in the paradox of the cross. Hard to choose the weakness as a place where God's power manifested. No enough to respond to the accuracy of Peter, on the identity of the Lord. We must accept the way, do ours. We must live the drama of passion to deserve the light of the resurrection. Moving from disfigurement to the transfiguration.
is not shining see Mr wonder, but take seriously his message, His Gospel. Swayed by his words. Our transformation and renewal will depend on the ability to listen. The disciple is not the man of visions but of listening.
And that is significant and eloquent live this day we remember and Salesian history, being a Salesian firing one day hear his voice, and feeling privileged by the love of Christ becomes his disciple and apostle, and becoming a new man lives by baptism fullness of the sacrament which is offering to the profession of the evangelical counsels in religious life and anointed Salesian priest of the eternal high priest Father, Christ lived the Paschal Mystery of his master with his cross taking the time of death and glorification safe. Insurance and the father Jaime Potes Roldán, this transformed, glorified by God's mercy and faithfulness to the Lord calls him throughout his life, baptism, religious and priests.

Were 8 years, where certainly in times of exigency, discipline, and careful selection criteria and strict training of trainers, superiors saw in him a man morally spotless, transparent and complying with his priestly duties, pious life, which combined with his intelligence practice, subtle humor and life frankly and bluntly, was a pledge and guarantee of effective testimony. Their focus on service to the community was in line management and economics. After his tour of forming passes Pasto, in the Salesian also treasurer to sink only a year after three years the director of the Institute of Cali, in the years 64 to 67.

There he had to preside over and be with his family on the death of his brothers who always had it as a reference tool for fraternal unity and dedication to them.
disease brings it back to Medellin to the nursing home which arrives June 10, 2005 where he began his real ordeal of struggle between life and death of a bustle of clinical interventions and treatments and transfers only defeated by the reality of suffering and death that Pope Benedict XVI has been defined as the existential questions unanswered. Because suffering is an unfathomable enigma to reason. And really played all that suffering being and Jaime Potes be the father, which many times I asked for vocations and the sanctity of our Salesian Salesians and the increase of vocations.
is a Salesian We Complete, straight and unambiguous, clear and transparent, as bright and blue eyes that were slowly fading. Worth giving a farewell and able to speak properly and without invention accommodates the testimony of a Salesian priest through and through. When one remembers as a Salesian Father Jaime, knowing we met a man who has lived the spirit of the Beatitudes, and has embodied that Article 62 of our constitution that speaks of personal testimony the most convincing sign of our proclamation of the Gospel, we should not feel sad and defeated, but cheerful and happy because we're going to bury grain has already borne fruit in deeds and actions of fruitful ministry and glowing testimony. We
firing one of those Salesians who were a heritage and a living monument of accuracy and authenticity, to the last moment of his Salesian life dedicated to being and being with your community ... .. Prevented since the beginning of his illness in a wheelchair, was attentive to the practices of piety community to be faithful to daily Mass, and its frequent and fervent attachment to his meditation and recitation of the rosary. Lover of the liturgy ... always distinguished for his advocacy of sound liturgy worthy noting the presentation of the celebrant and the simplicity of the gestures and designated by the headings to give serious and committed in faith and not show .... Responsible and hardworking, very austere and radical in their poverty, hiring and shedding capacity over its origins from a wealthy family and financially solvent.
of temper and determination, and firm decisions and radicals, was strict and demanding of himself, sincere and very consistent, did not fit easily into the new and the shouts of all sorts of novelties in the tradition of the Church or in the Congregation. So frankly and without personal accommodations than I thought and said so openly rejected, rewarding him and observing his conscience that surely argued that they violated the Salesian tradition and the Magisterium of the Church.
securely in their beliefs, but respectful, cordial and brotherly relations with the Salesians who lived, giving an example of values \u200b\u200bthat underpin community life. For him, punctuality, adherence to the community of prayer times, and the physical presence of the Salesian community in all the acts were the treasure and standard. And given this example, until the last moments of his life, before he fell prostrate on his sick bed in the nursing home where our inspectorate was eating slowly and suffering bumps, falls and an ability to revive and recover dramatically. It was a struggle that faced with the desire to live and anguish of the game. The Lord tested for several years in a drama that lasted nearly five years. It was Sunday when we arrived at Salesian brothers retreats. In Rionegro received the news and share it with the sadness of his departure but with the joy of seeing and at rest, peace and watching his Lord, his Maria Auxiliadora he loved and that many times over the years and in his last apostolate his hometown of Tulua, venerates both our mother, walked the streets with the string of dawn, processions and celebrations for Our Lady.
Accompanying his father James in his march to the house of the Father, I commend in this time of Easter Salesian. Quiet and loving with us in our sadness, yet Christian joy with her maternal compassion, and so we are certain not only because Don Bosco as a teacher said to us, but because Jesus, in his final hour, it gave us the person of the beloved disciple as a mother, so she is now the father Jaime to the helper who takes your hand and leads him to eternal glory. So be it.
